The memorial of Commander Lt. Colonel Wictor

Lt. Colonel Wictor as Marusalan Piuslees was born in 1963 in the village of Pannangaddikottu in Mannar. He was educated at St. Xavier’s Men’s College in Mannar.

The world realized that our liberation struggle has grown exponentially and deeply. Once our voices were silenced and our voices were not heard. Now many people stand up for us and speak for us. This is a change of time. Maveerar Wictor is one of the many maveerar during time, who made this change happen for Tamil people.

No worry about the liberation struggle will be forgotten or will be destroyed by enemies and chauvinists. History will surely remember the senior generals who stood by the side of the national leader to protect and develop the liberation struggle of Tamil Eelam.

Through his historical achievements Commander Wictor showed the world, that Tamil Eelam Liberation Tigers will not give in for pressure of the Sri Lankan military and they are not for sale. On 12.10.1986, Commander Wictor and his small number of fighters was in the battle with hundreds of Sinhala troops in the Adampan area in Mannar district. With the courage words “It´s us or him! Only one of us!”, Commander Wictor started the fight and ended the battle with victory. Today it is heavy thoughts that we have lost Commander Wictor in the final moments of the successful battle.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam have followed rules of international war when it depend on corpses of soldiers and prisoners of war. The Sri Lankan government and the international community will now have understood it.

After capturing the Sri Lankan soldiers and the retrieval of the bodies of the soldiers – this action of the LTTE led the Tamil people know more about the LTTE and their ideal. The liberation struggle was slowly unfolding among the Tamil people.

It is noteworthy to say, that Commander Wictor, who played a key role in the 1983 landmine attack on Sinhala troops in Jaffna and Tirunelveli, also took part in the offensive against the Sri Lankan army in the Tamil Eelam under the direct guiding of the national leader.

In 1985, Commander Wictor was leading the battle of the Mannar Police Station. He organized and reorganized the team giving orders to the commanders Ratha and Kumarappa (Lt. Colonel Kumarappa). Commander Wictor´s guidance remains an unforgettable memory. He had all fighters safely over the sea, only one fighter became maveerar in this battle. A BBC correspondent described the day’s attack as a “wise and courageous one”.

The people of Mannar showed their happiness on that day by presenting a gold chain to Commander Wictor.  The quality of welcoming people with great joy.  The days of glittering high beauty, carrying the loving leader on the walls of the heart and guiding him are unforgettable.

Commander Wictor was the one who gave life to our national leader’s wish on the development of the Women’s Brigade. He was the person who gave the women training in the battle for first time. Now the Women Brigade has become one of the best fighters. All honor goes to Commander Wictor.

The other fighters was also proud of Commander Wictor. He was kind to everyone and his singing voice took place in everyone´s heart. His hands always took care of his pistol. Moreover, he loved nature and art, he always enjoyed the nature with his camera. We are proud that our national leader had raised a fighter like Commander Wictor.

Today it is easy to recognize that our liberation movement is moving with great development as we look at the historic development of our liberation struggle.

Today and then our struggle is and was facing a very high level due to the great guidance of our national leader.

The historical need of today is many more Wictors rising up for the liberation struggle. We have thousands of people standing up for Tamil Eelam like never before.
