The original history of the Sinhalese race is very obscure
This story begins with the mythological legends of the Mahavamsa. Like the very strange Ambulimama story, the history of the Sinhalese race emerges from the tragic love affair of a Sinhalese king.
A unique fantasy epic, written by a Buddhist monk, settles Vijayan and his companions on the island of Eelam. North Indian Aryan and royal blood is added to the origin of the Sinhalese race. The heroes of the fantasy epic are incarnated as historical figures. The lies of the myths are made true, and the history of the Sinhalese nation is distorted.
Sinhalese Buddhism did not stop at historical distortions. It also dominated the formation of the state. From that time on, the spiritual ethics of the ashram entered the palace. Gautama’s ascetic philosophy, which renounced attachments and sought Nirvana, entered the world of politics obsessed with power. Kings became Bodhisattvas. Spiritual ascetics who had to kill desire ascended to the throne of power as political monks. Dharmasila was buried in power politics. The Karunya sect took the form of chauvinism. An ancient Dravidian ethnic group with a lion and a royal leaf proclaimed itself as the highest nationality.
Zionism says that the Hebrew God chose the Jewish race as the noblest people of humanity and Israel as the holy nation on earth. Sinhala Buddhism has also created such a prophetic miracle. The ‘Dhamma Deepa’ theory was born from this imaginary concept.
A holy land and a holy race were chosen by the Buddha to protect the Buddhist Dharma as Buddhism. Sinhala Buddhism has imagined that such a land-based and ethnic-based ideology emerged when Siddhartha Muni attained enlightenment under the royal tree. In this imaginative realm, the island of Sri Lanka was transformed into the abode of Dharma, the holy land blessed by the Buddha. In this way, a mythological belief was twisted into historical fact and came to life as the flesh and blood of Sinhala Buddhist tribalism.
Based on this belief, the Sinhala race celebrated the right of ownership to the entire island of Sri Lanka. The ‘Dhamma Deepam’ became the exclusive property of one race. Unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty were all principles that established the territorial sovereignty of the Sinhala race. In the holy land of Buddha, a single-race dictatorship rose under the guise of a single rule.
Sinhala chauvinism, which arose with the slogans of holy country, holy race, holy religion, hated the Tamils. It considered them enemies. It excluded them as unwanted foreigners. It refused to recognize the people of Tamileelam, who were the original inhabitants of the island of Sri Lanka, with a long history and civilization, as a unique nation, living in their own homeland.
The history of the Tamils was denied.
The homeland of the Tamils was denied.
The nationality of the Tamils was denied.
Because the lies of the Puranas were swallowed as historical facts without investigation, the Sinhala ethnic ideology refused to accept the reality of the Tamils’ lives. The ethnic conflict that arose as a result erupted into war. The earth became a battlefield. The sacred lamp of Puranas did not come to reside in the cave of the Sinhalese’s mind as mere myth. It is a giant occupying force, armed and making a desperate attempt to forcibly swallow the homeland of the Tamils.
The just and just demand of the Tamils to live peacefully, freely and with dignity in their own land, in their historical homeland where they have lived for ages, has been dragged out in the space of forty years through broken talks, broken agreements and endless wars, and today is facing a major land occupation war.
The Dhamma Deepa doctrine, which arose due to historical distortion, and the Tamil homeland demand, which was born in historical reality, have created a rift between the two nationalities as a great and insoluble contradiction. This has closed the gap for a political solution.
The militaristic policy of mobilizing forces, conducting invasions, seizing land, erecting barbed wire and expanding the holy land is also being shaken by the opposition movement of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
Sinhala Buddhist chauvinism, which wanted to destroy the Tamil homeland, is facing an unprecedented crisis.
Unless the Sinhala nation is freed from the communal fanaticism that arose in the illusion of religious mythology, the historical destiny of the Tamil homeland being separated and living as a separate country will become inevitable.
