A thousand years ago, we would have grown up listening to the songs of the Panars, who divided the Tamils’ lives into outer and inner. We would have learned from textbooks that the Cholas and Pandiyars fought a thousand years ago. As a generation that has witnessed the history of the LTTE, who were no less brave than these, we are witnesses in our own time. We are the Panars of today, and we will pass on the bravery, betrayal and helplessness we have witnessed to the next generation.
Some simple items found in the house of the National Leader, which was destroyed during the attack in 1985, are in the Mullivaikkal courtyard in Vilar, Thanjavur district.
