This is a victory celebration of a war imposed by denying the freedom of fellow citizens who belong to this very nation. A victory achieved through the bloodshed caused by a constitutional failure.
This country has been experiencing the consequences of that — and will continue to experience them. In this war, the Tamils did not lose. The Sinhalese did not win. What was defeated was Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is a failed nation. Condolences to the 30,000 Lankan soldiers who lost their lives due to a political blunder.
