Victory House was first established in Jaffna in 1991

Victory House was first established in Jaffna in 1991 by Velupillai Prabhakaran as a psychiatric ward for women who were mentally ill during the war disaster.

The Tamil Eelam National Leader’s mission was to protect, treat and rehabilitate mentally ill women due to the war situation caused by the Sri Lankan ethnic conflict. It was of importance to help women in trauma of losing relationships before their very eyes. Victory House housed 154 women during 2008.
